It's an engrossing portrait not only of government intrigue and crusading after the truth, but of media and their tangled motivations.. Even though Training Day doesn't resolve itself as well as it deserves and ends strictly cops-and-robbers style, it's given us some great acting and something to ponder.. When Denzel gets going, however, he sure does go!. If the screenplay to "Kill the Messenger" were a news story, any capable copydesk would have kicked it back to the reporter-not for a shortage...
